Super Number: For daily wear, Super 110's to 150's is ideal, balancing softness with wrinkle resistance. Higher numbers (e.g., above 180) are extremely delicate and prone to wrinkling.
Construction: Determines Longevity and Shape
Full Canvas: The highest quality, using floating chest canvas for a naturally structured, breathable, and long-lasting garment.
Half Canvas: The best value, featuring canvas in the chest and fused material below. The results are nearly as good as full canvas.
Fused: The most basic method, using adhesive to bond layers. It can feel stiff and may bubble over time. Generally not recommended.
Style Details: Determine the Final Look
Lapel: Notched lapels are the safest, ideal for business; peaked lapels project a stronger presence, perfect for important occasions; shawl lapels are mainly used for formal evening wear.
Sleeve Length: Ideally, the shirt cuff should be visible by 0.5–0.6 inches (1–1.5 cm).
Jacket Length: Generally, it should be long enough to cover the curve of the buttocks.
Look for Professional Service
Is the measurement process thorough? A professional tailor should take at least 20 measurements (e.g., neck circumference, shoulder slope, arm circumference). For online services, check if they offer video guidance or a try-on garment service (some will send a fitting garment before final production).
